KITAS E23 - 1 Year Working KITAS Extension
The Working KITAS Extension allows foreign nationals who hold a valid, active Working KITAS to extend their legal stay and right to work in Indonesia for another term. The extension is a continuation of the initial permit and is crucial for those who wish to maintain their employment with their sponsoring Indonesian company without having to leave the country.
A Working KITAS (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas - Limited Stay Permit) is a work permit that enables foreigners to legally reside and be employed in Indonesia. The Working KITAS Extension is a formal process required to renew this permit upon its expiration. Key Characteristics & RequirementsSponsorship: A Working KITAS is sponsored by a registered Indonesian company (PT or PT PMA). The extension process must be initiated by this same sponsoring company.Validity: A Working KITAS is typically issued for a 6-month, 1-year, or 2-year period. It can be extended multiple times for up to a total of 5 years.Job & Role: The extension applies to the same job position and company as the original KITAS. Any changes to the job title, responsibilities, or company require a new application, not an extension.Mandatory Biometrics: An in-person biometrics appointment (for a photo and fingerprints) at the local immigration office is a compulsory part of the extension process, similar to the initial application.Tax & Reporting: The sponsoring company must be compliant with all tax and social security (BPJS) obligations for the foreign worker to be eligible for the extension.
